Netherlands pledges EUR 65M to Ukraine Energy Support Fund

The Dutch government has committed EUR 65 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to assist in critical infrastructure repairs and preparation for the upcoming heating season. According to Ukrinform, the decision was announced during a meeting between Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak and the Netherlands' Special Envoy for Ukraine, Erica Schouten, Ukrinform reports, citing the Ukrainian Energy Ministry. "This is significant support for us, and it will be an important contribution to the repair campaign that is already underway as part of preparations for the next heating season. Thanks to these funds, we will be able to partially cover urgent needs. Stable energy supply is a prerequisite for the functioning of the economy, critical infrastructure, social services, and other areas of life in Ukraine. We are sincerely grateful for this assistance," Andarak said. Schouten reaffirmed that energy remains a top priority in the Netherlands' ongoing assistance to Ukraine. The two officials also discussed Ukraine's fuel and energy sector needs, particularly in gas extraction, which has suffered repeated Russian attacks. Both sides agreed to explore further cooperation in this area. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Netherlands has provided Ukraine with 211 shipments of energy equipment, weighing nearly 3,000 tonnes. These shipments have included transformers, generators, mobile gas power stations, cables, and other essential materials for repair and restoration efforts.
