Ukraine has always adhered to international humanitarian law in the combat zone, including during the raid into Russia’s Kursk region, and rejects any accusations from the Russian side of alleged "crimes" committed by the Ukrainian military. This was stated by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi, who spoke at a briefing on Friday, March 21, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. The MFA spokesman reiterated the official position of the General Staff regarding the attack on the Sudzha gas metering station, and called on international partners not to succumb to Russian manipulation. "As for the various accusations targeting Ukraine, coming from the Russian side, in general of "atrocities", of some "crimes" in Kursk region, these accusations are absolutely groundless. Ukraine always adheres to international humanitarian law, in particular, humane treatment of civilians in the zone of combat, and does not violate these rules,” Tykhyi emphasized. He noted that most local residents and property in Kursk region suffered from shelling by the Russian Federation, including targeted strikes. “We understand and have seen how, during this particular raid, Russia repeatedly specifically, in our opinion, from what we saw, shelled the civilian population, various settlements, in order to accuse Ukraine of crimes. This policy has been going on for decades… All these are fake reports, and today the world does not believe them – they know the price of Russian disinformation,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman summed up. As reported earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called out as “grpundless” Russian accusations against the Defense Forces as regards the attack on the Sudzha gas metering station.
