Russian POWs report no complaints about their conditions

Russian prisoners of war, who the Ombudsman's Office interviewed, confirmed that they had no complaints about being in Ukrainian captivity. According to Ukrinform, this is stated in the post of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets in Telegram. “During the exchange on March 19, employees of the Ombudsman's Office talked to Russian prisoners of war. All of them confirm that they have no complaints about being in captivity,” Lubinets said. According to him, once every three months, they are constantly visited by the International Committee of the Red Cross. The prisoners were also able to receive and send letters to their relatives, and were provided with all the necessary medical care. As one of the Russian prisoners of war said, “They cured me, everything is fine. They put me back on my feet.” Lubinets emphasized that Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine are held in accordance with the Geneva Conventions. “I emphasize that Ukraine demonstrates the treatment of prisoners in accordance with international humanitarian law. We expect that Russia will also hold Ukrainian prisoners of war with dignity and allow ICRC representatives to visit them!” Lubinets emphasized. As reported by Ukrinform, on March 19, one of the largest prisoner exchanges took place between Ukraine and Russia - 197 soldiers were returned to Ukraine.
