US seeks to liven up cooperation with Vietnam as Putin leaves Hanoi with several bilateral deals

The Vietnamese government has issued a statement that the US and Vietnamese diplomats met to talk about cooperation after Putin's visit to Hanoi. According to Bloomberg, US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink held a meeting with Vietnam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on June 21. The meeting resulted in the US diplomat stating that the trust between the US and Vietnam 'has never been stronger than now' and the Vietnamese minister expressing his state's willingness to strive to 'comprehensive strategic partnership' with the US. Additionally, the US reiterated its commitment to supporting a strong and prosperous Vietnam Earlier, the US condemned the Vietnamese government for a warm welcome to the self-proclaimed President of Russia Vladimir Putin on June 20. It is explained by the fact that on June 19 Putin and Kim Jong Un signed a defence pact after Kim expressed his 'full support' for Russian aggression in Ukraine.
