An ex-president of the US has suggested that Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 to stop Ukraine from joining the NATO organization. He said this as he was talking on the All-In Podcast channel. In his statement, Trump shifts the blame onto his rival Joe Biden rather then on NATO and the collective West itself due to the US presidential elections soon to be held. "For 20 years, I heard that if Ukraine goes into NATO, it's a real problem for Russia. I’ve heard that for a long time. And I think that's really why this war started [...] Biden was saying all of the wrong things. And one of the wrong things he was saying, 'No, Ukraine will go into NATO,'" Trump stated. Donald Trump has been stubbornly claiming that if he had been a president, the full-scale war in Ukraine wouldn't have started in 2022. He then promised to stop the war if he is elected again but didn't elaborate on the ways to do so. It should be noted Ukraine has been in no actual talks on NATO membership since 2008 while in 2023-2024 Finland and Sweden joined the alliance. Earlier, Nigel Farage, the Reform UK party leader, said that the West provoked the war in Ukraine.
