The Danish government has approved DKK 150 million (€20 million) to back Ukraine and Moldova as they move towards the EU. That's according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. "Successful EU enlargement is crucial for Europe's stability. It enhances the security of all of us when EU neighbouring countries strengthen their European roots and strive towards the opportunities for peace, stability, and prosperity that the EU offers," stressed Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The funds are envisaged to be allocated by 2030 and will help the countries to launch certain administrative structures and legislation necessary for EU membership. Denmark plans to provide similar assistance to candidate countries from the Western Balkans. The European Union has officially launched negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova’s accession on June 25.
