Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko expressed this opinion on the FREEDOM TV channel. “What the Russian dictator Putin is proposing has nothing to do with peace. This is the Ukrainian capitulation that Putin wants because he cannot achieve it on the battlefield. He cannot defeat the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the Ukrainian state. Therefore, he is trying to take advantage of the excitement around the topic of peace and peace negotiations, which, by the way, appeared after the summit in Switzerland,” the political scientist noted. According to him, Putin’s proposal has nothing to do with peace. He wants Ukraine to disarm. “So he refers to the 2022 Istanbul negotiations. By the way, he does not refer to any agreements, because there were no agreements. There were proposals from the Ukrainian side. Ukraine was ready to make certain compromises in Istanbul on March 29. But in exchange for Russia returning to pre-invasion lines on February 23. That did not happen. Putin refers to a document that is dated April 15, 22. These are not some kind of agreements, this is a Russian draft peace treaty, which Ukraine did not accept,” the broadcast guest stated.
