Ukraine’s results at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris lift the team to 10th place in the overall medal standings

With three medals at once, Ukraine started its victorious third day of the Paralympic Games in Paris today: 1 silver and 3 bronze medals added to the achievements of the previous, second day of competition, which brought Ukraine its first gold.  The Gaze reported. Today is also the first double podium for Ukrainian para athletes in the shot put, class F12:  Volodymyr Ponomarenko (Poltava region) won a silver medal and Roman Danylyuk (Cherkasy region) won a bronze medal. Ukraine also won the first award in table tennis:  Viktor Didukh (Lviv region) and Iryna Shynkariova (Mykolaiv region) won bronze in the mixed doubles table tennis competition, class XD17. In total, the previous day, the second day of the Paralympics, brought Ukraine four additional medals: swimmer Oleksandr Komarov won the first Ukrainian gold, Vladyslav Bilyi won three more silvers in javelin throw, Iryna Poyda in swimming and Natalia Kobzar in running.  ‘We thank each of our athletes for such important victories. We continue to cheer for you,’ wrote President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On 30 August 2024, at the Paralympic Games in Paris, Dnipro's Iryna Poyda won her second individual silver medal of the Games. She won silver for the first time in the 200 metres freestyle in the S5 class. Later that evening, Poyda added another silver to her collection by finishing second in the 100m freestyle in the same class. These achievements contribute to Ukraine's overall success in swimming at the 2024 Paralympic Games. Oleksandr Komarov also continued Ukraine's positive performance in swimming. The athlete won a gold medal in the 100 metres freestyle in the S5 class, setting a new Paralympic record with a time of 1:07.77 minutes. This is the first gold medal for Ukraine in this sport since 2008. Earlier on 29 August, Komarov won bronze in the 200m freestyle. After two days of competition, Ukraine's national team ranks 11th in the medal standings with 8 medals, one gold, five silver and two bronze.  Results of 4th day at Paralympics 2024: Oksana Zubkovska became the champion in the long jump (T12 class). Ukraine has won its first medal in rowing at the 2024 Paralympics. Roman Polyanskyi claimed the silver in the men's single sculls (PR1 class). Ukrainian athlete brought Ukraine a medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games Artem Kolinko won "bronze" in the bocce competition (class BC4). Yevhenii Bogodayko won the bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke (Class SB6) at Paralympics 2024 Mykhailo Serbin won the third "gold" at the 2024 Paralympics in swimming at a distance of 100 m backstroke (class S11). In the final, he swam with a time of 1:05.84 minutes, breaking his own world record by 0.17 seconds! In general, Ukraine has a double podium in this final, Danylo Chufarov became the bronze medalist.
