Norway allocates £186m for military aid to Ukraine
Norway will finance part of an international military aid package to Ukraine through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), led by the UK Ministry of Defense. The Norwegian government has decided to allocate £186 million sterling (approximately $232.5 million) for the support, which includes: £92 million ($115 million) to strengthen Ukraine's navy: the purchase of small boats, reconnaissance drones, unmanned surface vessels and sea mine countermeasures.£68m ($85m) for air defense systems: radars, cloaking equipment and electronic warfare against drones.£26m ($32.5m) for spare parts and support for previously delivered systems.“The war in Ukraine continues and the need for military equipment remains critical,” said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram. The funding will be channeled through the IFU, a mechanism that brings together Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania. Since its inception, the participating countries, as well as Iceland, Australia and New Zealand, have already invested more than €1 billion in the fund. Norway continues to play a key role in supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities, helping to strengthen key areas: the navy, air defense and critical systems maintenance.
