Zelenskyy Arrives in Brussels for Meetings with European Leaders

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Brussels on Wednesday, December 18, to participate in an informal meeting of European leaders and the European Council summit. He announced this on his Telegram channel. According to Zelenskyy, ending Russia's war against Ukraine is a fundamental issue for Europe and requires "coordinated and effective action by European countries." "This visit includes meetings with the leaders and heads of government of France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, the NATO Secretary General, the President of the European Council, and the President of the European Commission, as well as representatives from the UK and other countries," Zelenskyy noted. He also confirmed his participation in the European Council session on Thursday, December 19. Earlier reports indicated that Zelenskyy would meet NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who has also scheduled a separate discussion on the situation in Ukraine with leaders of several European countries. Media sources suggested that the topics of these meetings might include a potential "ceasefire" in Ukraine and the deployment of European forces in the region.
