Italy has launched a €45 million program aimed at supporting vulnerable populations in Ukrainian regions most affected by the war, UATV English reports. The initiative was presented in Kyiv and includes more than 20 projects focused on social protection and humanitarian assistance. The program provides direct financial aid to vulnerable groups, expansion of social services, psychosocial and medical support, as well as the development of temporary accommodation facilities. Ukraine’s Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutin welcomed the initiative and emphasized the importance of effective coordination of international assistance. He noted that Ukraine is transitioning from a fragmented, status-based social support model to one focused on the real needs of individuals, stressing that partner support should align with national systems and policies. Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Carlo Formosa stated that the new program continues Italy’s systematic humanitarian support for Ukraine. According to him, two previous initiatives enabled the implementation of around 40 projects involving 60 non-governmental organizations and provided assistance to approximately one million people. The current €45 million program is one of Italy’s largest humanitarian contributions abroad and will primarily focus on regions near the front line that have been most heavily impacted by the war. Earlier, Italy also delivered assistance to help Ukraine address the energy crisis caused by Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.
