France continues to expand its support for Ukraine’s healthcare sector — since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, total aid has reached €18 million, and by the end of the year, 24 partnerships will be active between French and Ukrainian hospitals. This was announced by Gaël Veyssière, Ambassador of France to Ukraine, during the opening of the forum “International Medical Partnership: From Doctor to Doctor,” Ukrinform reports. “The total French assistance to the Ukrainian medical sector since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine amounts to €18 million,” the ambassador reminded. He added that the French government, NGOs, and private companies continue to help strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s healthcare system. “I am truly proud that we already have 16 active partnerships between French and Ukrainian hospitals. Today, four more new partnerships will be signed, involving three French medical institutions,” said Veyssière. By the end of 2025, there will be 24 active partnerships between the two countries’ medical institutions. According to the ambassador, these will be long-term programs covering mental health, physical rehabilitation, reconstructive and trauma surgery, oncology, and the fight against antimicrobial resistance. The cooperation will also include training for a new generation of doctors and nurses in French universities — particularly through programs based at the University Hospital of Strasbourg. Veyssière also recalled France’s support for the Superhumans War Trauma Centre, a key Ukrainian rehabilitation initiative. “This project will be expanded, as we are now funding the creation of a new Superhumans rehabilitation center in Odesa. I sincerely hope to be present at its opening next year,” he added. As previously reported, seven new memorandums on medical partnership were signed in Kyiv between Ukrainian and foreign clinics, along with a memorandum of cooperation between Ukraine’s Ministry of Health and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
