Canadian companies possess significant international experience that could be leveraged for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, according to Zenon Potichnyi, President of the Canadian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, UATV English reports. “Canadian companies have extensive international experience and operate in various regions worldwide. They can bring to Ukraine not only capital but also practical expertise, modern technologies, and effective management approaches. This includes comprehensive solutions in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, as well as corporate governance and project planning,” Potichnyi said. He added that with proper government support, the number of joint Canadian-Ukrainian reconstruction projects is expected to grow. Potichnyi also urged Canada to expand war-risk insurance mechanisms for Canadian entrepreneurs willing to invest in Ukraine. “Canada actively supports Ukraine through international financial institutions, including the World Bank and the EBRD. This is important and necessary work. At the same time, more can and should be done for Canadian companies ready to work in Ukraine — especially special guarantee and insurance mechanisms that other countries already actively use to support their private sectors,” he noted. The Canadian-Ukrainian Free Trade Agreement, in place since 2017, was modernized and expanded two years ago to cover new areas, including investment.
