Unknown drones spotted over Denmark on the evening and night of September 24–25 were flying in areas where military facilities are located. This was reported by TV2. According to details, near Aalborg Airport there is an Air Force base – the main stationing site for C-130 Hercules transport aircraft and CL-604 Challenger jets. Also nearby is the base of Denmark’s elite Special Operations Forces unit, Jægerkorps. In the area of Skrydstrup in Southern Jutland, where drones were also observed, there is a base responsible for the maintenance of Danish F-16 fighter jets. A group of drones in this region (Esbjerg, Skrydstrup, Sønderborg) was recorded around the same time as the first ones near Aalborg – before 10 p.m. It also became known that Billund Airport was closed for one hour. Police received a report at 4:20 a.m., but the presence of drones was not confirmed, and the airport resumed operations. Update: Police in Central and Western Jutland confirmed the presence of a drone in Holstebro, where the Jutland Dragoon Regiment – the only regiment in the Danish army with an armored battalion – is based. A drone was flying there at around 3:30 a.m. At present, it is unclear whether these were quadcopters or fixed-wing drones. Due to the events, Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard will soon hold an urgent press conference. Because of the rerouting of three civilian flights that were supposed to arrive in Aalborg during the airspace closure, SAS and KLM had to cancel two morning flights. Overall, by morning, all Danish airports were operating normally, and no problems are expected. As a reminder, on September 25 it became known that unknown drones caused the temporary closure of Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark for several hours. Earlier, late on September 22, mysterious drones disrupted operations at the airports of Copenhagen and Oslo for several hours. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described these incidents as a “serious attack on Denmark’s critical infrastructure” and did not rule out possible Russian involvement. In Norway, authorities later reported the detention of a tourist from Asia who had flown a drone over Oslo’s historic center. However, it remains unclear whether his device was the sole reason for the airport shutdown. The Danish government considers the repeated appearance of unknown drones over the country, including near military facilities, to be a hybrid attack. According to TV2, this was announced at an emergency briefing by Denmark’s Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen. Poulsen stated that this is a hybrid attack involving different types of drones and described it as actions that pose a threat to Denmark’s security. He emphasized that although those responsible for launching the devices have not yet been identified, “it certainly does not look like some coincidence – it looks like systematic actions.” “Everything indicates that a professional actor is involved,” the defense minister said. He added that Danish intelligence is closely monitoring the situation. “It is already clear that we will see more hybrid incidents. Denmark must be even more prepared to counter such incidents in the future – particularly in light of the recent events in other European countries,” Poulsen stressed. Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard also pointed out that the incidents in Denmark were preceded by a series of alarming cases in other European countries. “The purpose of such hybrid attacks is to sow fear. It is meant to create division, to intimidate us… Now more than ever, it is crucial that we remain united,” the minister emphasized. As a reminder, on September 25 it was reported that unknown drones again flew over Denmark – including near military facilities. Because of them, Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark had to suspend operations.
