CAL resumes domestic flights

CARIBBEAN Airlines Ltd (CAL) resumed inter-island flights on the evening of July 1 after the passage of Hurricane Beryl through the southern Caribbean. A CAL release said there would be a total of 32 flights between Trinidad and Tobago (16 departures from each island) beginning at 5 pm. On June 30 CAL postponed all its domestic and international flights between 9 pm and 1 pm on July 1, ahead of the category four hurricane's arrival. While international flights resumed at 1 pm with BW 616, bound for Guyana, the airline alerted customers at 10 am that travel would remain unavailable between Trinidad and Tobago because of the bad weather. By 2 pm it had announced the resumption of domestic travel. CAL said affected international passengers can rebook flights without change fees once they are in the same cabin and bookings are made through the CAL call centre or ticket office before July 28. It also said CAL will not be responsible for transport to or from an alternative airport or hotel and overnight expenses incurred by affected passengers. It said affected domestic customers may rebook without a change fee on any domestic service up to August 30 with no penalty.
