The Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League (TTPFL) looks set to appoint a new CEO in the coming weeks, as outgoing CEO Colin Wharfe confirmed his resignation from the organisation to Newsday on July 1. On July 1, the TTFA issued a release that indicated it was “accepting applications for various positions within the FA and the TTPFL.” The vacant positions included the head-coaching posts for the national women’s football team, as well as the under-20 men’s and under-23 men’s football teams. The women’s team post was held by former Police FC coach Richard Hood, who most recently led a youthful squad to the Caribbean Queen’s invitational football tournament in Curacao from May 28-June 3. The men’s under-20 and under-23 head coach position was held by Brian Haynes, who oversaw the TT under-20 team for the Concacaf men’s under-20 qualifiers earlier this year. With TT hosting a group that included Canada, Dominica and St Vincent and the Grenadines, they were unable to advance to the main draw of the competition. The other two posts that the TTFA is now accepting applications for are that of CEO and marketing officer. Wharfe said he issued his resignation letter to TTFA president Kieron Edwards in the morning on July 1, and the indication is that the new executive wants to move in another direction. Edwards ascended to the TTFA presidential seat on April 13 when he defeated Wharfe by a 38-19 margin. By the end of July, Wharfe will no longer be at the helm of the TTPFL, which concluded its second season on Saturday with the staging of the TTPFL tier two final.
