Where’s NACTA?

THE EDITOR: Always interesting, the North American Caribbean Teachers Association (NACTA) poll by Vishnu Bisram is just what we need at this juncture. To date, in my respectful view, the local political analysts appear limited to speculation of the one-sided kind. We need a NACTA poll today. If one removes the rampant crime, we the people still do not know which political party, apart from the incumbent People’s National Movement (PNM) is capable of offering us believable aspirants for our 41 constituencies. The Opposition United National Congress (UNC) despite the much talked about 300,000 supporters, appears to be on shaky ground. Is it that alleged former enemies may be viewing general election 2025 as a last-chance political salon to political fame? Timing, especially political timing, is of the essence. Confused as to who really is UNC and loyal to the party leader? Only the PNM and the UNC can cough up thousands of base supporters. Plain talking is not bad manners in TT with an election just one year away. Currently opposition “ministers” appear limited to extolling how many home invasions, kidnappings, murders, extortions and how many families are leaving TT because of crime. Has every single sufferer reported to the TTPS? Where is the proof? Ramping up the crime stories is sick, sick, sick. Do we have indelible proof about the exact amount of all of the above? If they are not being reported, how much is the political speculation to win general election 2025? The most recent murder of an alleged “gang lady” placed her as being from Chaguanas one day, and from Beetham, the next day. Does it matter? Chaguanas has no bad people, only Beetham? Our politics must also be about which political party is worthy to govern TT. Which aspirant ministers can we truly trust. However covered in many gold chains and allegedly part of a gang, it is still sad to see a beautiful, young woman dead. Really sad. When and where did her life go wrong?
