Celebrated on August 11 annually, World Steelpan Day was officially declared by the UN on July 23, 2024. The celebrations started with an ancestral walk from the Massy All Stars panyard at the corner of Duke and George Street to Woodford Square, Port of Spain. The walk included members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Band, San Juan All Stars Steel Orchestra, Panasonic Connection Steel Orchestra and Chord Masters Steel Orchestra. Also present during the walk were Port of Spain mayor Chinua Alleyne, Pan Trinbago president Beverly Ramsey-Moore and Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell. Here are highlights of this year's celebrations.
