Steelband Emancipation Parade starts Pan Month

Pan Month has started, and one of the first events being held is the 22nd annual Emancipation Steelband Street Parade on August 3. Pan Month is observed every August. It is scheduled to take place along the Eastern Main Road from McAlister to Leon Streets, Success Village, Laventille from 5 pm-12 am. The Laventille Steelband Festival Foundation is the organiser. [caption id="attachment_1100151" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Bp Renegades -[/caption] Bp Renegades, Desperadoes, NLCB Fonclaire, Trinidad All Stars, Phase II Pan Groove, NGC Couva Joylanders and the recently crowned single band champions of the steelpan music festival Uni Stars are among the bands scheduled to perform. Malick Folk Performing Company is also expected to give a theatrical and dance performance. The foundation will also present awards to Laventille icons, including the family of the late Norvan Fullerton, former Pan Trinbago president Keith Diaz, retired music director and pannist Merle Albino-de Coteau and Sandra Awai. President Christine Kangaloo, the Prime Minister, Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Randall Mitchell, Port of Spain mayor Chinua Alleyne, Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher and Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly are among those invited to the event.   The post Steelband Emancipation Parade starts Pan Month appeared first on Trinidad and Tobago Newsday.
