Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados Under-19 cricket match ends in draw

Persistent rainfall was the only thing which prevailed on day two of round one in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Men's Under-19 Two-Day Championships in St Vincent on July 12, as all three games were called off before reaching a natural conclusion. At Sion Hill Playing Field, steady overnight rain continued into July 12, as no play could be possible in the intriguing clash between TT and Barbados. Barbados batted first and declared on 200 for nine on July 11, before reducing TT to 51 for three at the close of play on day one. Unfortunately, neither team could make a push for first-innings points as the game was called off at approximately 3 pm on day two. TT will hope for better weather in their second-round encounter when they take on defending champions Jamaica from July 14-15 at Park Hill. At Arnos Vale Playing Field, Jamaica and the hosts Windward Islands temporarily took the field on day two before the weather had the final say in their encounter. Windwards were bowled out for 135 on day one, with Jamaica declaring on 146 for eight. Windwards were 27 without loss at stumps on day one, and they progressed to 44 without loss on July 12 before the game was called off. No play was possible on day two in the encounter between Guyana and Leeward Islands in Colonarie. Guyana were bundled out for 111 on the first day, with Leewards progressing to 84 for two at stumps. The first leg of the under-19 championships was reduced to a two-day format after the tournament was delayed by the passage of Hurricane Beryl. The second leg of the under-19 championships will commence with a 50-over tourney on July 23.
