A delegation of representatives from 72 Taiwan-based high-tech startups are taking part in the Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 7-10 in Las Vegas, spotlighting the country’s innovation and technological prowess, the National Science and Technology Council said. According to the NSTC, the Taiwan Tech Arena Pavilion showcases the entities’ latest offerings in areas spanning artificial intelligence, digital health, smart cities, sustainability, and vehicle tech and advanced mobility. Attendees of the opening ceremony included Andrea T. J. Hsu, director general of the NSTC’s Department of Academia-Industry Collaboration and Science Park Affairs; CES senior supervisor Jannene Remondino; Sudeepto Roy, vice president of U.S.-based Qualcomm Inc.; and relevant officials and representatives of institutions and exhibitions from France, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. During her opening remarks as the delegation leader, Hsu said that Taiwan participants have demonstrated the country’s diverse innovation ecosystem. Taiwan is a reliable partner in AI development, she added, urging global enterprises and professionals to join Taiwan in applying AI solution to sectors across the board. The NSTC added that the delegation has also invited startups from countries like Italy, Japan, South Korea, Sweden and the Netherlands to stage joint product and technology demonstrations with Taiwan participants at the pavilion. The move is anticipated to attract more investors and expand business opportunities for Taiwan startups, it said. Following the event, over 30 firms taking part in the pavilion will launch a roadshow in partnership with the NSTC Jan. 14 in Silicon Valley, the council said, adding that representatives will seek business matches to foster future cooperation.
