Premier Cho attends 2026 Touch Taiwan

Premier Cho Jung-tai attended the opening ceremony of 2026 Touch Taiwan April 8 in Taipei City and pledged to keep working with the local display sector to promote innovation and industry upgrade.   In his opening remarks, Cho said displays are an indispensable part of daily life and that Taiwan’s display sector plays a key role in driving the local economy, employing more than 100,000 individuals and creating output topping NT$1 trillion (US$31.46 billion).   From traditional liquid crystal to electronic paper displays, Taiwan remains a global front-runner in display technologies, especially when it comes to large modules, the premier said. Local firms have continued to make progress in micro light-emitting diodes for applications such as smart glasses and artificial intelligence data centers, he added.   Cho noted that the 13 strategic industries set for targeted promotion by the Executive Yuan all involve display technologies, adding that the sector’s development will enhance convenience in daily life while strengthening economic resilience and communication security.   He cited as an example the Tech World Pavilion at the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival held last month in Chiayi County that employed advanced display technologies to showcase Taiwan’s high-tech achievements and natural vibrancy.   Organized by Taiwan Display Union Association, the three-day exhibition involves more than 250 firms from home and abroad showcasing the latest developments in display technologies and advanced packaging.
