Taiwan, US hold GCTF workshop in Guatemala

The Embassy of the ROC (Taiwan) in Guatemala and the U.S. Embassy with the Guatemalan government held an international seminar under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework April 6 in Guatemala City, underscoring commitment to jointly enhancing digital governance and information security resilience. Entitled “Strengthening Cybersecurity Resilience and Digital Infrastructure,” the event focused on constructing a safe digital environment to jointly respond to technical risks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Around 100 experts from Guatemala, Japan, Taiwan and the U.S. participated, with topics ranging from construction of highly resilient digital infrastructure and risk assessment of low-cost telecommunication products to transnational cooperation on regional cybersecurity. Ambassador to Guatemala, Vivia Chang noted that Taiwan has rich experience, is innovative and shares expertise in information security management via the GCTF platform. Chargé d'affaires to the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala John M. Barrett emphasized that deepening regional information security collaboration is vital to digital transparency. Since its launch in June 2015 by Taiwan and the U.S., the GCTF has become an important facilitator of international exchange.
