MOFA denounces joint China Pakistan fallacious statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns China for its continuous spread of distorted remarks that negate ROC (Taiwan) sovereignty and reiterated that neither Taiwan nor the PRC is subordinate to the other and that the CCP regime has never ruled Taiwan.   The MOFA said that following a seventh round of bilateral foreign ministers’ strategic dialogue Jan. 4 in Beijing between China Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, a joint press communiqué was released, which wrongly claimed that Taiwan was an inseparable part of Chinese territory.   No country should utilize a joint statement to deny the objective reality that Taiwan does indeed exist, the MOFA stated. The ministry called on the Pakistani government not to endorse CCP remarks aimed at jeopardizing regional peace.   Taiwan’s sovereignty lies in all its citizens and only the people can decide the nation’s future. As a force for good in the international community, Taiwan will firmly defend values of democracy and freedom and continue to strengthen cooperation with democratic partners. Together with friends and allies, it will deter authoritarian expansion and maintain stability across the Indo-Pacific region. (POC-E)   Write to Taiwan Today at ttonline@mofa.gov.tw
