Tainan hosts floral shows

The Ministry of Agriculture and Tainan City Government held a press conference Feb. 10 in Taipei City, to announce the Taiwan International Orchid Show and Floral Technology Exhibition held at MOA’s Floral Industry Innovation Center Feb. 27-March 16.   Deputy Agriculture Minister Hu Jong-i and Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che attended the media event. This is the first time that the orchid show will be held in the center, the MOA said.   The annual value of the domestic floriculture sector is around NT$18 billion (US$571 million). Orchids are the most internationally competitive, with moth orchids accounting for over 90 percent of exports. Japan and the U.S. are the two major export markets, Hu noted.   The theme this year is “Blooming Taiwan,” showcasing the creativity and resilience that overcomes climate and other challenges. Nearly 10,000 orchid plants will be exhibited over five areas, including the Orchid Excellence Pavilion, where single and group medal winning orchids will be displayed.   The Floral Technology Exhibition introduces AI smart technology, interactive narratives, and immersive images that combine moth orchids and other blooms to create an exhibition space that transcends nature, ecology, and future imagination, showcasing Taiwan's innovative strength and international development cooperation potential in floriculture technology.   Additionally, a Floral Industry Forum will be held Feb. 27, in which experts from home and abroad will conduct in-depth exchange on international trends and production technology, the MOA said.
