The private jet sector is emitting more and more greenhouse gases. Between 2019 and 2023, greenhouse gas emissions from private aviation nearly doubled. That’s according to a study published in Communications Earth & Environment. Last year alone, private aviation accounted for 15,6 million tons of CO2 emissions. In 2019, it was 10,7 million tons, or 46% less. According to researchers affiliated with Swedish, German, and Danish universities, those 15.6 million tons of CO2 emissions in 2023 account for 1.7 to 1.8% of aviation’s total carbon footprint.
