'White Chicks' sequel? Marlon Wayans puts the rumours to rest

Who can forget the iconic movie that had us all belting out “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton and exclaiming, “I’m so freakin’ pissed.”"White Chicks" is nothing short of a classic when it comes to the 2000s favourites. Released in the year 2004, "White Chicks" features Shawn and Marlon Wayans as FBI agents who go undercover as white, female socialites. This zany premise, paired with their outrageous transformations - complete with prosthetics, blonde wigs, and strikingly white faces - sparked both laughs and controversy.While fans were recently teased with the tantalising prospect of a sequel, the excitement was dashed when Marlon clarified that those hopes were premature.The film was met with its fair share of negative reviews, particularly concerning its portrayal of race and gender. Critics argued that the concept of two black men dressing as white women perpetuated racial stereotypes and was insensitive in its execution.The use of whiteface, similar to blackface, raised eyebrows and ignited debates about cultural appropriation. Many felt that the humour relied too heavily on caricatures rather than genuine comedic storytelling, leaving some viewers feeling uncomfortable rather than amused.Despite the backlash, "White Chicks" developed a cult following over the years. Marlon posted a screenshot of a "Pubity" writing: “Not TRUE!!! But maybe ONE DAY.” While the idea of a sequel is a fun notion, it seems we won’t be seeing a follow-up to "White Chicks", at least not anytime soon.At least fans can look forward to another throwback movie making a comeback. The brothers are currently working on "Scary Movie 6", which is a fan favourite.The pair were writers on the original film in the series and will return as part of the newest cast. Keenan Ivory Wayans, who directed the first film, will also be returning to helm the comedy horror. The movie is set to hit our screens on June 12, 2026.
