FAO: ‘Anticipatory Action’ blunts disaster damage

Proactive disaster preparedness is gaining momentum in the Philippines as the FAO pushes for "anticipatory action" to mitigate the impact of natural calamities. FAO's Lionel Dabbadie emphasized that this approach provides communities with tools to recover faster, citing efforts during Typhoon Pepito. Meanwhile, Senate Bill 2643 seeks to declare a state of imminent disaster, allowing for preemptive actions. “The Philippines is resilient, but it’s not enough with the increasing frequency of typhoons,” Dabbadie noted.
