Dhoom Dhaam: Yami Gautam's Powerful Monologue Goes Viral

Dhoom Dhaam makers unveiled a powerful monologue from the film, leaving everyone in awe is set to premiere on Netflix this Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. Yami Gautam discusses her powerful monologue on women's struggles in Netflix's Dhoom Dhaam. Yami Gautam, in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, opened up about the powerful, viral monologue on women’s empowerment featured in her upcoming Netflix film "Dhoom Dhaam." In a monologue, Yami’s character 'Koyel' talks about the daily struggles women face of harassment, teasing, the pressure of marriage, and the expectation to bear a child. She touched upon the harsh reality that if a girl child is born, women are often pressured even further to have a second chance for a boy child. The monologue also highlights how society forces women to follow certain dresses in hot climates only to cover their bodies. In this monologue, her character does not shy away from discussing even more disturbing issues, such as the unsolicited explicit images sent by some men and blackmailing too. Speaking of the scene that Yami delivered in one take, she explained, “In my head, it’s never choreographed like there are going to be any multiple takes or multiple shots. It has to be delivered right in the first go and preferably, in the first take, I think your first is always your best. Some actors warm up and eventually, they get the right emotion. But, that’s absolutely to each his own. I feel my best comes in the first two takes, preferably the first take, especially when something is coming from your heart, something that you’re feeling. So you, and you can’t fake it. Being a woman, somewhere, some of us resonate with it – may not be the entire monologue, but two lines from it. You will resonate with it. You connect with it. It’s an amalgamation of trying to keep all those emotions balanced and to hear as many perspectives as you can and roll into one." Yami also spoke about how Pratik Gandhi’s natural reaction to the monologue led to a small improvisation. She added, “The way he’s reacted, there’s a very small improvisation. And that happened because of his reaction. That line was not there. ‘Idhar udhar kya dekh rahe ho’?" Dhoom Dhaam will drop on Netflix on February 14.
