WTF ! Man Inserts Live Eel into Rectum, Requires Emergency Surgery in Vietnam

In a bizarre and alarming medical emergency, a 31-year-old man from India was rushed to Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam, on July 27 due to severe abdominal pain. Doctors were shocked to discover that the patient had inserted a live 25-inch eel into his rectum earlier that day. Le Nhat Huy, vice director of the Department of Colorectal and Perineal Surgery, revealed, "The eel had bitten through the patient's rectum and colon to escape into the abdominal cavity." The patient underwent several imaging tests, including an X-ray, which showed the eel's skeleton inside his abdominal cavity. Doctors initially attempted to remove the eel through the man's anus but found a large lime obstructing the path, which he had also inserted. Due to this unexpected complication, they opted for emergency surgery. During the operation, doctors found the live eel, measuring over 25 inches long and approximately 4 inches in diameter, inside the patient's abdomen. Both the eel and the lime were successfully extracted. Following the removal, doctors checked for any additional foreign objects before closing the surgical wound. A colostomy was performed to prevent fecal matter from passing through the cut made by the eel's bite. Viet Duc Hospital has previously treated patients who have inserted objects into their anuses for sexual pleasure, including bottles, cups, and adult toys. However, this was the first time they had encountered a live animal. Huy cautioned, "Eels can survive in anaerobic conditions for a long time and have the ability to bite through the gastrointestinal tract," urging people not to insert live animals through their anus due to unpredictable and dangerous outcomes.
