Viral Video: Woman Rescued from Deep Gorge in Satara After Selfie Attempt Gone Wrong

A 29-year-old woman was rescued by locals after falling into a deep gorge at Borne Ghat in Maharashtra’s Satara district on Saturday evening. The woman, who was reportedly taking a selfie with friends, sustained several injuries and was admitted to a local hospital. Videos of the dramatic rescue, showing home guards and locals pulling the crying woman to safety with a thick rope, have gone viral on social media. While initial reports claimed she fell while taking a selfie, some sources suggest she slipped while attending to nature’s call during heavy rains. The viral clip shows a man descending the slope to assist the woman, who clung to the rope, guided by the Shivendra Raje rescue team. A caption accompanying the post reads, "Young girl was brought to safety from a 150 feet gorge by members of the Shivendra Raje rescue team at Borne Ghat in Satara. The girl slipped & fell from the cliff while taking a selfie along with her group of 5 boys & 3 girls. Shivendra Raje group has received mountaineering training in Dehradun this June, which was sponsored by Satara Zilla Parishad." The video garnered millions of views, sparking mixed reactions from social media users, with many criticizing the risky behavior of taking selfies in dangerous locations.
