SC refuses Delhi CM Kejriwal's plea for interim bail, issues notice to CBI
The Supreme Court issued notice to the CBI regarding Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail plea in a case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The court directed the CBI to respond by August 23. Earlier, the Delhi high court upheld Kejriwal's arrest as lawful and directed him to seek regular bail from the trial court. Kejriwal, a prominent public figure and the Aam Aadmi Party convenor, was previously granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case. The excise policy was scrapped in 2022 after alleged irregularities surfaced.
