All You Need To Know About The Kolkata Doctor case; Read More

The tragic rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College and Hospital has deeply shocked the nation. In response, junior doctors have organized protests and stopped working to call for immediate justice for the victim. As a result, patients waiting at the Out-Patient Departments of various medical colleges are experiencing delays in their care, since junior doctors usually handle their cases. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CASE: On Friday, August 9, the semi-nude body of a female post-graduate trainee doctor on duty was discovered in the seminar hall of a government hospital in Kolkata. The victim, a second-year student in the chest medicine department at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was on duty Thursday night. According to her father, he believes his daughter was raped before being murdered, noting the injury marks and that she was found semi-naked. He criticized the hospital authorities for delaying the investigation and trying to cover up the truth. A doctor from the hospital, mentioned that she had dinner with her colleagues around 2 am and then went to the seminar room to rest, as there was no separate on-call room. Her body was discovered there the next morning. SHOCKING FACTS FOUND IN THE INVESTIGATION:    Police said the initial autopsy showed the victim was sexually assaulted before being murdered. A case has been filed at Tala Police Station, according to police. The four-page report noted bleeding from the woman's private areas and injury marks on other parts of her body. The report stated that the victim had bleeding from her eyes and mouth, injuries on her face and nails, and also from her private parts. Additionally, she had injuries on her belly, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips.During the autopsy, which was filmed, two female witnesses and the woman's mother were present. A senior Kolkata Police officer stated that the crime occurred between 3 am and 6 am. It was revealed that the victim's glasses were shattered, and shards had pierced her eyes.He explained that her neck bone was broken, suggesting she was first strangled and then smothered. The full autopsy report will be crucial in helping identify the perpetrators. ALL ABOUT THE ACCUSED WHO WAS THE ONLY ONE GOT ARRESRED TILL DATE: On Saturday, a senior officer reported that police have arrested Sanjoy Roy, a 33-year-old civic volunteer, for his suspected involvement in the murder of a female postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. He mentioned that the man was an outsider who had unrestricted access to various departments of the hospital.Police added that they found a torn piece of a Bluetooth earphone, which helped lead them to the arrested suspect. A police source said that other PGTs and female doctors identified the suspect from CCTV footage taken from different areas of the hospital.Police officers said that the arrested suspect gave inconsistent statements during questioning. On Saturday, a Kolkata court placed the accused in 14 days of judicial custody. He faced charges under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the BNS. The judge also approved a 14-day police remand until August 23 for further questioning. A police officer investigating the case claimed that Sanjoy Roy went home, slept, and then washed his clothes the next morning to destroy evidence. On Monday, police said Sanjoy Roy was allegedly addicted to pornography and had several such materials on his phone. The investigation also revealed a history of physical abuse towards his wives. Roy, a trained boxer, had built connections with senior police officers over the years. As a result, he was transferred to the Kolkata Police Welfare Board and posted at the police outpost at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the incident occurred. An officer said that Sanjoy Roy had unrestricted access to all hospital departments due to his connections with senior police officers and hospital staff, and no one challenged his movements. There is evidence suggesting he used his influence to avoid scrutiny, and this is being investigated. Roy's connections even allowed him access to the Kolkata Police's 4th battalion barracks, where he went and slept after committing the crime.
