NEW DELHI: On Tuesday, security forces dismantled an underground terrorist hideout in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities reported that they discovered a substantial stockpile of everyday items, such as cooking gas, blankets, and utensils. In addition, the forces also revealed a cave-like refuge in the Balotha region of Basantgarh in Udhampur district during their ongoing anti-terrorism operation. The abandoned cave contained various food supplies. The search operation in Basantgarh intensified on Monday following a terrorist attack on a joint patrol party of the CRPF and police, which led to the death of a paramilitary officer with the rank of inspector. This recent fatality has brought the total number of terror-related deaths in Jammu and Kashmir this year to 74, including 21 security personnel and 35 terrorists. Within this toll, six districts in the Jammu region—Doda, Kathua, Reasi, Poonch, and Rajouri—have contributed to 30 of these deaths, comprising 14 security personnel and six terrorists.
