GST council meet: Rates on cancer drugs, namkeen slashed; key decisions

The GST council has announced a reduction in tax rates for cancer drugs from 12% to 5%, and for namkeens from 18% to 12%. A group of ministers will provide recommendations on reducing rates for medical health insurance by October. The compensation cess collection is scheduled to end by March 2026.
