Australia decides to strip commanders' medals for war crimes

The Australian government has revoked medals from commanders whose units were implicated in alleged war crimes in Afghanistan between 2005 and 2016. Defence minister Richard Marles made this decision following the Brereton report, which exposed unlawful killings by elite special forces. This move aims to address past wrongs and uphold military standards.
