From taxes to immigration to abortion, here are 5 critical issues at stake as Donald Trump and Kamala Harris enter the last stretch in the race for the White House. Economy - During his presidency from 2017 to 2021, Trump reduced taxes for corporations and the rich class. He now plans to implement tariffs which exceeds 10 percent on all US imports, claiming this will allow him to reduce taxes everyday for Americans. The Republican candidate also strives to establish the United States as the "crypto capital of the world," by launching his own cryptocurrency platform with his sons in September. Kamala Harris is focusing on the middle class with her promise to create an "opportunity economy," advocating for moderate tax increases for the richest individuals. The 60-year-old also promoted child tax credits, assistance for 1st-time homebuyers, and support for small businesses. Immigration - Donald Trump maintains a firm stance on immigration, asserting he would initiate mass deportations of millions of undocumented individuals if re-elected. The former president, who in 2016 decided to construct a wall along the US-Mexico border, has accused the immigrant people of "poisoning the fabric of our nation." Conversely, Harris has committed to a firm approach and warned of "consequences" for those who enter the country opposing Laws. She has endorsed President Joe Biden's strategies to strengthen immigration policy, especially by investing in physical barriers at the border. Abortion - Reproductive rights have become an important concern for some US voters following the removal of the federal right to abortion in 2022 due to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, leading to complete abortion bans in several states of America. With ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, Trump has promised to swiftly resolve both situations, although he hasn't elaborated how. He criticized the substantial US financial support for Kyiv since its invasion by Russia. In contrast, Kamala Harris has reiterated her strong support for Ukraine if she is reelected.
