After the first monkeypox case was detected in Delhi, Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) implemented mandatory testing for all international passengers focusing on the flyers from African countries. Following the Union Health Ministry's advisories issued to all major entry points like airports and seaports, KIA has made it mandatory for all international passengers especially the ones flying from African countries. 4 testing kiosks have been set up across the airport for the following. And if any individual is found to be tested positive for the pox virus, they will be isolated and placed under a 21-day quarantine, following similar protocols to those used during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the testing, the airport is also going to keep track of the common symptoms exhibited by any passenger, which consist of fever, skin rashes, severe headaches, muscle stiffness, and back pain. A spokesperson for Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) told The Times of India, “KIA is fully prepared and compliant with all health and safety protocols issued by relevant authorities in light of the global mpox situation. All international passengers are being thoroughly checked for elevated temperatures as part of the screening process.”
