AI could be capable of 'learning by thinking', say researchers

Artificial intelligence may be capable of learning by thinking, a process previously thought exclusive to humans. Cognitive scientist Tania Lombrozo from Princeton University highlights how AI, especially large language models, can correct themselves and refine their responses through self-explanation and reasoning. This ability parallels human methods like thought experiments and self-explanations used for discovery.
