Indian cricket star Virat Kohli had a disappointing performance during the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. He scored 6 and 17, with Hasan Mahmud dismissing him in the first innings and Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking his wicket in the second. As all eyes turn to Kohli for a comeback in the second Test in Kanpur, he faced a significant setback in the nets prior to the game. According to the Indian Express, he faced 15 deliveries from fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah during practice, getting 'out' four times. One delivery struck his pads, prompting Bumrah to shout, “saamne laga hai (You are plumb),” a comment Kohli acknowledged. Two balls later, he edged a ball while reaching for an outside delivery, and Bumrah caught him off guard twice in succession by adjusting his line to the middle and leg stumps. “The last one could have been caught at short leg,” Bumrah remarked. Kohli then moved to another net where spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel were bowling, but his troubles continued. Kohli attempted to take on Jadeja but missed the ball entirely three times while trying an inside-out shot, leaving him feeling 'agitated.' Things took a turn for the worse when he was clean bowled by Axar, whose delivery completely breached his defense. That was the last delivery he faced in the nets before making way for Shubman Gill. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar commented that the absence of star players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the recently concluded Duleep Trophy was detrimental for both Indian cricket and the players themselves. The Duleep Trophy wrapped up with India A claiming the title, featuring various Indian stars like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. However, neither Rohit nor Virat participated in the tournament. When India faced Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai, marking Rohit's first Test in five months and Virat's first in eight, the ring rust in both players was evident as they struggled to score well in the match. Rohit managed scores of five and six in both innings, while Virat recorded disappointing totals of six and 17. READ MORE - Putin Warns West of Nuclear Response After Air Assault
