Sparse plastic flowers, a stripper, a lone violinist and not enough food - fans were not happy with what promised to be a glamorous event.

Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ is one of the most popular series on the streaming platform. The show is so popular that fans organise costume parties, balls and events to celebrate their love for the show. Recently, a management company in Detroit organised the “Bridgerton Themed Ball”. In the advertisements for the event, the organisers promised “step into the enchanting world of the Regency-era … for an evening of sophistication, grace and historical charm.” The tickets for this ball were sold at $300, which is approximately Rs. 25,000 and fans spent more on the costumes and jewellery to dress up lavishly for a night of dancing and celebrating in Regency-style. However, reality turned out to be very different, with shabby décor at the venue, no seating and little food. The Bridgerton Ball was originally scheduled to take place in August. It was later rescheduled for September 22, with organisers saying that the original venue had cancelled the event. Also, guests who were unable to attend the event on the rescheduled date were not given a refund. Instead, their emails requesting a refund went unanswered. Thread about the Bridgerton Ball SCAM in Detroit that I (and hundreds of others) spent $300 on pic.twitter.com/EUgX482w8j — Rachel Eaton @ Realta (@rayleearts) September 24, 2024 When fans reached the venue, they noticed that Bridgerton vibes aside, there was no décor at all. some attendees shared photos from the event in which people are seen sitting on the floor, browsing their phones as there was nothing else to do. The food served there was undercooked and finished after an hour. Nobody was there to clear the plates, and so the dirty dishes got piled up at the table. On the other hand, the promised performance turned out to be one stripper on a pole in the middle of the large hall. This bad experience created outrage among the fans, as they did not get what was promised. "The way that it was described was this was going to be a Bridgerton evening. We were going to have classical music, good dinner. There was going to be a play and they were going to pick Diamond of the season. They were going to give away all of these prizes and we went in and it was completely empty in there. There is nothing going on. They have a pole in the middle of the dance floor. A stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor." said Amanda Sue Mathis, one of the people who went for the event.
