Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Maharashtra on Saturday, launching a range of initiatives in Washim and Mumbai that highlight his government's commitment to agricultural growth and urban development. In Washim, he will inaugurate projects in agriculture and animal husbandry worth around ₹23,300 crore. A key feature of his trip will be the unveiling of the Banjara Virasat Museum, which aims to celebrate the rich heritage of the Banjara community. Modi's itinerary also includes a stop at the Jagdamba Mata Temple in Poharadevi, a site of reverence for the Banjaras. At noon, he will focus on agriculture by distributing the 18th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, a financial aid program for farmers. "This installment, amounting to about ₹20,000 crore, will benefit around 9.4 crore farmers nationwide," a government spokesperson stated. Additionally, he will launch the fifth installment of the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, distributing nearly ₹2,000 crore. Modi is also set to dedicate over 7,500 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, collectively valued at more than ₹1,920 crore. "These projects include custom hiring centers, primary processing units, warehouses, and cold storage facilities, all designed to modernize our agricultural infrastructure," the spokesperson added. Modi's visit to Washim will conclude with the dedication of 9,200 Farmer Producer Organizations to the nation, which have a combined turnover of approximately ₹1,300 crore. He will also introduce a unified genomic chip for cattle and indigenous sex-sorted semen technology, representing significant advancements in animal husbandry. After his engagements in Washim, the prime minister will head to Mumbai, where he will address a public gathering in Thane. There, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects worth over ₹32,800 crore in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Key initiatives include the ₹12,200 crore Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project and the ₹3,310 crore Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar in Thane. Modi will also lay the groundwork for Phase-1 of the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area project, valued at approximately ₹2,550 crore.
