Anupamaa Star Rupali Ganguly File Defamation Suit Against Stepdaughter

Anupama is making headlines again as its lead, Rupali Ganguly, files a defamation case against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, for causing mental distress and professional harm to the actress. She demanded a compensation of Rs 50 crores for maligning her character on social media. The legal team of Rupali led by Advocate Sana Raees Khan has sent out a notice to 26-year-old Esha Verma stating that comments and posts made by her have shocked their client and caused her mental stress. The notice said, “Our client states that she was shocked to see the posts and comments published by you on various social media platforms, including Twitter (now X), Instagram, and Facebook. Our client states that it is apposite to put the true and correct facts leading to the issuance of the present notice.” They clarified that Rupali decided to stay silent on the matter, but after her 11-year-old son was dragged into this conflict, she was forced to react. The dispute between the family started when Esha appeared in an interview and accused Rupali of being the reason for her parent’s separation. She claimed that while Rupali slapped her mother in Mumbai, her father was physically and mentally abusive towards her mother. “I was devastated, crying in high school because of the women who deliberately came into our lives, who broke my parent's marriage, who physically hit my mother in person in Mumbai in my grandparent's house. To see her win, that's the most devastating thing which I have gone through. I'm not pinpointing just Rupali here; I have also gathered the strength to say that it is my father's fault. He was also a very abusive man physically and emotionally, so it's a two-party street,” she said. Last week, Ashwin took to social media to react to the accusations. In a post, he said that his marriage to Sapna faced many challenges, which resulted in their divorce. He claimed that Rupali was not involved in their separation and that he loved all his kids equally and dearly. Esha was quick to respond to his post and said, “That is the biggest lie because Rupali was the one who came to my house in New Jersey and slept on my mother's bed—the bed that my father and mother shared. She has done so much, physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally, abusing me and my mom. I feel like that was a lot of trauma I had to deal with and suffer with, and my mom did too. We suffered a lot, and we don't have that exposure as she does.” Esha is the daughter of Ashwin and Sapna, who separated in 2008 and currently lives in New Jersey, United States.
