Renuka on the impact of getting periods at 10

Renuka Shahane, known for her role in 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!', shared that she started menstruating at 10 years old. Discussing the impact of early periods on her life, she expressed how she still feels the need to hide her body due to her childhood experiences. On the podcast We Are Yuvaa, she said, "I got my periods when I was 10. I'm 58 today and have lived most of my life with periods. At such a young age, you don't fully understand what's happening to your body. I was fortunate that my mom explained it openly, but it was still confusing." She added, "In school, none of my friends had their periods yet, so I felt lonely and couldn't talk about it with anyone except my mom. This made me feel like I had to hide my growing body, a feeling that stayed with me. My childhood experiences have influenced how I see my body and dress today."
