Maharashtra plans strict law to regulate private preschools; mandatory registration, quality norms proposed

Maharashtra is preparing legislation to regulate private preschools, making registration mandatory and introducing quality standards for early childhood education. School Education Minister Dada Bhuse informed the assembly that over 12,700 centres have already registered on the state portal. The proposed framework includes teacher–student ratio norms, child-friendly infrastructure, and a ban on entrance tests at the pre-primary level.
