CBSE rewires schooling: AI from Class 3; classrooms brace for disruption

The Ministry of Education has announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Thinking (CT) will become mandatory subjects from Class 3 onwards starting in the 2026–27 session. The initiative, aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF SE 2023, aims to make AI a basic universal skill. With teacher training, ethical safeguards, and a focus on “AI for Public Good”, the curriculum seeks to prepare students for a rapidly evolving, AI-driven global economy.
