Nigeria To Begin Sale Of State-Owned Assets In 2026, Wale Edun Confirms

arise.tv - 11/Feb 07:07

Finance minister Wale Edun says government will identify assets and timelines for sale as Nigeria courts private investors and partnerships.

“Show Us Your Faces”: Govt Orders All Hospital Owners to Reveal Identities by March 3The days of faceless ownership in Kenya’s healthcare sector are over. In a move designed to weed out quacks and smash cartels siphoning public funds, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has issued a tough new directive: All healthcare facilities must update their ownership records within 21 days. The “Know Your Owner” Directive In a statement released today, KMPDC CEO David Muriuki ordered all private, faith-based, NGO, and community health facilities to submit fresh details about who exactly owns and runs them. The Deadline: You have until March 3, 2026 to comply. The Requirement: It is invasive, and deliberately so. Facilities must submit: CR12 forms (official search showing current directors/shareholders). National ID copies & KRA PINs for all directors and trustees. Recent Passport-size photographs of every owner/director. Valid registration certificates. “Failure to adhere to the directive will contravene licensing… and appropriate legal action will be taken,” the Council warned. Why Now? The Hunt for “Quacks” and Fraudsters This administrative order is the first step in a larger war declared by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale last month. The “Amos Isoka” Tragedy: The crackdown follows public outrage over the death of Amos Isoka, who died after a botched tooth surgery by a suspected quack. The government wants to ensure every facility is owned and run by qualified professionals, not shadowy businessmen. The SHA Heist: Duale previously revealed that some facilities were “siphoning funds” from the Social Health Authority (SHA) through fraud. By demanding CR12s and passport photos, the government is making it harder for fraudsters to hide behind corporate veils. The Police Are Coming This data collection is likely preparation for the new “Anti-Fraud Police Unit” that Duale promised on January 18. This special unit will have the power to arrest unlicensed practitioners and shut down facilities that are just fronts for stealing public money. If you own a clinic, the message is clear: Submit your details, show your face, or prepare to be shut down.
