Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has pledged to renovate the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Accra to provide young athletes with a well-equipped facility to nurture their talents.Speaking during his ministerial engagement with the National Youth Authority (NYA) management on January 30, 2025, Opare Addo expressed concern over the current state of the facility, describing it as neglected. He assured that steps would be taken to restore it, starting with an assessment to determine the cost of renovations.“It is unfortunate how we have left the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex to its current state, that we have not paid attention to it. These are the things the National Youth Authority will pay attention to,” he said.The minister emphasized that investing in sports infrastructure could play a crucial role in addressing youth unemployment, noting that sports provide economic opportunities.
