GFA introduces stadium zoning system to enhance matchday security

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has outlined a new stadium zoning system as part of the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, aimed at streamlining access control and improving security at football venues.The zoning system divides stadiums into four key areas, restricting access based on accreditation and function. The GFA believes this structured approach will minimize unauthorized movement, enhance player and official safety, and ensure smooth matchday operations.Breakdown of Stadium Zones Zone 1 – Pitch Surroundings Covers the area between the pitch perimeter advertising boards and the stands. Access is strictly limited to players, technical teams, match officials, ball retrievers, groundskeepers, photographers, and accredited TV crew. Unauthorized entry is strictly prohibited, with access granted only through GFA accreditation. Zone 2 – Competition Area / Dressing Rooms Includes team and referee dressing rooms, the doping control station, medical rooms, tunnel, and the delegate’s office. Only players, match officials, medical staff, and designated team personnel are allowed in this section. Zone 3 – Spectator Stands Covers all seating sections, including VIP areas, media tribunes, and stadium control rooms.
