CAF approves AFCON calendar, opens bidding for other competitions

The CAF Executive Committee, chaired by President Dr Patrice Motsepe, met in Rabat and made several key decisions regarding upcoming competitions.AFCON Morocco 2025: The committee approved the match calendar for the tournament, which will be held from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Matches will be played in nine stadiums across six cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes, and Tangier.CHAN Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024: The kick-off date has been moved to August 2, 2025, with the final taking place on August 30, 2025.Women's Futsal AFCON Morocco 2025: The tournament will be held from April 22-30, 2025. The two finalists will qualify for the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup.U-17 AFCON Morocco 2025: The committee approved a new format, expanding the tournament from 12 to 16 teams.Bidding Process: CAF has opened the bidding process for the following competitions: Women's Champions League (2025-2027), U-17 AFCON (2026-2028), and U-20 AFCON (2027, 2029, 2031).The committee also received a briefing on the successful CAF GIFT U17 Football Tournament for Girls held in Tanzania.
